forty three weeks!

Our baby has wings! Atleast little curls on the side that I might need to trim soon...sniff. It is hard to believe that Hudson is 9 weeks away from being a year old. He has been teething - now up to 6 teeth as of this morning with another on the way. This has made for some sleep deprived nights - we are looking forward to when this will settle back down into our old schedule.
Sunday we went to the Tot Lot at Garfield in the park to play. Hudson was the youngest one there, but he enjoyed puttering around. He even met a pretty girl, Eleanor, who he wanted to be friends with. He kept reaching out and she kept backing away and smiling and waving. It was *very* cute.

Where did she run off to?
Although he is close to walking, he still needs a hand. He loved going up and down the ramp and playing with all the big kids.

Such a happy boy! He looks so grown up in the hand-me-down jeans (thanks, Rebecca! we'll save them for your little one on the way!).

labor day

We've been working hard these past few weeks and it was nice just to kick back and relax a bit on Labor Day weekend. We did manage to score a basic front loading washer & dryer set for 50% off - brand new including a warranty. The only downside is that it was in NJ. M+B were kind enough to lend us their car. Unfortunately Hudson was not able to lend us a better attitude towards the car seat. He is approaching the height/weight limit to his current seat and I think he will be thrilled  will put up with the car seat better  when he can get a bigger seat and face forward. Good news is that we have two fewer appliances to buy...and we will definitely have clean clothes in our new place!

Anyway, after working on getting more settled, cleaning, and moving a washer and dryer (thanks, B!), we took it easy on Monday. We met Bryden and his parents in the park and had a great time letting the boys play. Bryden is quite the proficient crawler and is pulling up just as well as Hudson! Hudson is slightly taller, but I'm sure they will even out soon - both boys have tall dads!

So below is a video of Bryden & Hudson chatting around the stroller (they didn't have a water cooler handy). It is two and a half minutes of your life that you will not get back (we think it is cute, but by no means is it dramatic or particularly funny). Although,  if you listen closely, you will hear Hudson say "kit cat" aka "kitty cat."

forty-two weeks!

I am super behind at updating the weekly photos. This shoot was from Labor Day weekend (seems like eons ago already!). Hudson had so much fun talking to the washer, that this almost ended up being the cover shot:
Hudson loves having a washer & dryer in his living space almost as much as I do. The door is really fascinating as well as watching the clothes spiiiiinnnnn...we happened to get a super deal on a washer & dryer set for our new apartment...more on that to come!
I finally distracted Master Hudson with a flash light and then he payed attention to the camera while singing into the flashlight. I love his curls that are coming in. I might have to give him a haircut soon (or atleast a trim around his ears!)

Love those baby blues!

vacation...part three!

Vacation seem so very long ago...but I have all these great photos that I need to share so that I can remember...and later on Hudson can remember as well. He actually loves looking at photos of himself on the phone or the computer. We walked around Warwick and found these chickens outside a closed antique store. Hudson was fascinated. I think the chickens were a little scared...

When we got back to the barnhouse, we played outside a bit. Hudson loved crawling around the grass...

Our host, Hanna brought out this fun tube to crawl through. Hudson hadn't discovered it yet..
..but when he did, he was pretty excited...
Dave calls this his "James Bond" moment, as it reminds him of the credits to one of the movies:
Here he comes to get me!!
The rain had cleared and we enjoyed the sunset! It was like having a date as Hudson was in bed resting up for the next day..

And what a busy day it was! We went to an orchard and found some animals to see. The donkey was really nice...
And the billy goat wanted to say hello!
It was a genuine farm because there was even a scarecrow!
Then we went to Pennington's which was a cross between a farmer's market and a petting zoo. There was ice cream too which is always a hit!
The best part was the Turkey. Mr. Tom gobbled at Hudson a lot! The next day Hudson woke up with a new syllable - GA!
Hudson loved looking at the flowers outside!
And going on walks with Daddy!
and swinging on the airplane swing!

The ride home on the other hand, was a little less than stellar.
There were more moments like this one, rather than quiet, complacent happy ones. Hudson is still *not* a big fan of the car seat.
And then we were back home in Brooklyn!
Later that afternoon we met up with Bryden in the park. He has much better posture than Hudson!

He even shared some pancake with Bryden..both boys loved it as a snack!

forty-one weeks! and beating the hurricane...

Hudson's forty-first week of life was filled with almost too much excitement (if that is possible?!). We had an earthquake on Tuesday and then a hurricane the following weekend! Although I will have to say that Hudson has taken the move in stride. He *loves* climbing up the stairs...busy busy baby
whew! made it to the top!
And he is actually pretty good at it. There are a lot of stairs to climb! Three flights up to his new (temporary) room! He loves all the new things to explore and the windows that he can look out of, standing on his own.
and I love baby hands!
So Saturday we made the final move to M+B's just before Hurricane Irene made a b-line for the city. We are *so* very thankful for their gracious hospitality. The weekend was a whirlwind, but we survived! It actually wasn't all that bad, and it was nice because the city was empty so it was a breeze to find parking! Flat Rate took most of our stuff into storage and the remainder went to M+B's place during the week with one last trip at 4pm Saturday, just before it starting raining.
This is the last time Hudson got to push the button in the elevator in our old building! He loved the buttons!
It is crazy that we are on this new real estate adventure. We were blessed enough to sell much of our kitchen furniture to our new tenants and handed them over the keys directly on Monday. We are looking forward to a new apartment with the new appliances we've started to stock-pile and a bedroom with a door that isn't our living/dining room for Hudson.
We loved this apartment. It took 8 rolls of tape and 3 long weekends with help from friends to paint it all, but it was pretty. And the view...the view was spectacular. We saw the cruise ships leave the port just before Irene hit...
After a very *long* day, we enjoyed a yummy dinner made by M - curried veggies over rice  - delicious! Thankfully, we were spared most of the damage from Irene...this was Sunday morning from our new bedroom window as the storm moved north! Bye-bye Irene!
