prenatal vs postnatal

There are nine prenatal vitamins left. I'm hoping that I will no longer be needing prenatal pills in nine days. I'm due in five days which gives this little one a four day grace period. It works that way, right? Either way, I'm not  buying more prenatal vitamins to finish this pregnancy!

these shoes are made for walkin'

So this weekend we got our walking shoes on and tried to 'walk the baby out.' We walked 6 miles on Saturday and 3 miles today.  That's a total of 9 miles this weekend...no progress yet, but my legs are sore!

wrapping things up...

Thankfully with some generous gift certificates, we were able to wrap up ordering the necessities for our 'nursery.' No one actually wants to buy you a diaper pail, even though you may need one. We over-worked our doorman as can be evidenced by the photo. The pile of boxes was almost as tall as me!

full moon looming

Tomorrow, October 22, is the full moon in Brooklyn. L&D wards are staffing up. I did some research online and just as the moon has a pull on the oceans, it can cause your water to break if the full moon is close to your due date (It worked earlier this year for my cousin!). I'm still 10 days away, but all my fingers are crossed!

time is on your side...or is it?

As we wrap up the last week or so of this pregnancy, I am beginning to understand the allure of inducement. I would give just about anything to not be pregnant any longer. I'm done. finished. cooked. over it.

Not that I want to be induced. I know this baby will come when it is time. I just wish that time was soon-er rather than most likely where it will be...late-er.

large-er bump

I guess I shouldn't get surprised that it seems like my belly is growing more each day...

full term!

So today marks 37 weeks complete, so our little one could come at anytime and be a considered 'full term.'

Another turn of events has happened as my body prepares to bring this baby into the world....

I now waddle like a penguin. According to the ultrasound we had on Saturday, the baby is 6lbs 14oz, or as our iPhone app says, the size of a small watermelon (you'd waddle too if you had a watermelon in your belly).

I'm drinking my red raspberry leaf tea and taking my evening primrose oil three times a day per the midwives' instructions. We'll see if this one holds on for another 3-4 weeks or if our little one wants out early. And yes, they started the baby pool at work today.

surprise shower

My coworkers were kind enough to throw us a surprise baby shower. A potluck lunch with delicious treats was highlighted by the gift of a flip video recorder.  The best part is the clips that were recorded this week wishing us the best and offering timely advice. I got to use iMovie for the first time to put the clips together below. We feel so blessed to have such supportive friends and coworkers, even if I've already lost my 'cool factor.'
