So Dave thought we should leave around 4-4:30am after Hudson early morning feeding on the 23rd to head down to Tennessee - we would miss all the NYC traffic and could then stop based on his schedule. Hudson woke up at 2:30am, so we were on the road by 3:30am. We made great time, missing most of the traffic in the northeast corridor and Virginia. Thirteen hours later and we were 30 minutes from my parents house, and there we were - stuck like sitting ducks. Both routes had car accidents - one of them turned out to be fatal (a 26 year old). Makes you count your blessings and appreciate how precious life is!
We ended up stopping for dinner as Hudson was done with his car seat, and we were done with the crying/screaming. A half hour later and Chick fil A in our stomachs (and milk in Hudson's tummy), we were back on the road. All in all, Hudson did well and was happy to see his Oma and Opa! He had a bath in the sink and slept well after a long day.
